Grand Opening of Tapeo
Tapeo opened to friends, family, and vendors on Monday June 11, and Tuesday June 12th 2018. The team behind Tapeo is well verse in Spanish cuisine. Carlos Mendez, managing partner and a Spanish native from Galicia has opened and worked at many successful Spanish Restaurants throughout the Northern United States and Giovanni Savinovich, partner, is a Spanish business man that has a passion for Spanish cuisine and wine.
Tapeo aims for a variety in menu and vibe, classic Spanish cuisine with a modern flair. The downstairs dining area bar will offer a casual space for tapas-noshing and wine-sipping amongst eclectic Spanish themed murals by New York graffiti artist Raul Rubio. The décor will transport you to historical Spain, a Tablao and a Bull Fight all at once.
The upstairs ambiance is more white tablecloth with roomy tables and a green-stained bar that will remind you of sipping Albarino in Marbella. The large windows overlook the downtown Waterfront Commons area.
The chef and staff at Tapeo put out a spread of tapas from their menu and had the famous "jamon Iberico" and a professional slicer serving the guests. The sangria was flowing and the crowd was buzzing about the food. Alex Jordan and Ana DelRosio harmonized bringing the guests gitano style sounds that took them to a Tablao like the streets of Madrid.
